Smart home installation
A smart home on the KNX system: lighting, blinds, heating and cooling, ventilation, alarm and intercom in one place. An open standard with no subscriptions, installed together with the new wiring.
A smart home with the KNX system
A smart installation means that lighting, blinds, heating, cooling, ventilation and security work as one system: a "leaving" scene switches off the lights, lowers the blinds and turns down the heating; in summer the blinds close by themselves against the sun; when it rains the roof windows close. The wall switches work as always, with an app on your phone on top.
We use KNX – an open standard supported by more than 500 manufacturers (Gira, Vimar, TEM and others). The system works without the internet and without subscriptions, components are interchangeable between manufacturers, so you are not tied to one brand. The cheapest and cleanest time to install it is together with the renovation of the electrical wiring.

Why KNX and not "smart bulbs"?
Smart plugs and bulbs from the shop depend on Wi-Fi and one manufacturer's app; when that service is discontinued, the house goes "dumb". KNX is a wired standard that has worked for 30 years without the internet and without subscriptions, any KNX installer can service it, and components are interchangeable between manufacturers.
Frequently asked questions
How much more does a smart installation cost compared with a conventional one?
It depends on the scope – a basic system (lighting and blinds) is a reasonable addition to new wiring, while a whole house with heating, security and visualisation is a bigger investment. We quote based on the functions you choose.
Can I start small and add later?
Yes. During the renovation we lay the KNX bus to every room; you start with lighting and blinds, for example, and add heating, security or ventilation later without cutting into walls.
What happens if there is no internet?
Nothing – KNX works locally on its own bus. The internet is only needed for remote control via the app.
Can you install a smart system in an existing apartment without a renovation?
Real KNX needs cables, so it makes sense when the wiring is being renewed. For an existing apartment without building work there are wireless KNX RF solutions for individual functions – we advise at the site visit.
